“The Jade Hairpin” a spectacular tale, to be presented at the 38th Hong Kong Art Festival 2010.

Eminent novelist and kun opera aficionado Professor Pai Hsien-yung, whose Peony Pavilion has enthralled audiences in the US and Europe, brings his latest production The Story of Jade Hairpin to the HKAF. This presentation is a breathtaking take on the timeless tale of youthful passion, forbidden love, forced separation and eventual reunion.

“The Jade Hairpin” originally a work by Ming dynasty playwright Gao Lian (1527-1609), is the love story of Pan Bizheng, a young scholar, and Chen Miaochang a Taoist nun, which ends happily.
